Compare electric scooters and safety gear sold in the UK. Private e-scooters can only be ridden on private land in the UK, so read the rules below first.
Check the law before you buy. It is against the law to use a privately owned e-scooter on public land in the UK. Private e-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner's permission. Only rental e-scooters in official government trial areas may be ridden on roads, and riders need a full or provisional licence with category Q entitlement. Using a private e-scooter illegally can lead to a fine, penalty points and the scooter being impounded. This notice must be displayed on every UK product listing.
